‘El Greco’ the opera debuts on Tues. in Piraeus!

Work by Giorgos Hatzinasios debuts at the recently renovated Piraeus Municipal Theatre

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis will attend the official premier of noted Greek composer Giorgos Hatzinasios’ opera “El Greco”, which on Tuesday at Piraeus’ recently renovated neo-classical Municipal Theatre.

“El Greco”, an opera in three acts, features a libretto by Ilias Liamis and theatrical direction by Vassilis Anastasiou. It marks the first-ever opera composed by Hatzinasios, a veteran of Greece’s musical scene for the past 40 years.

Based on the life and works of iconic painter Domenikos Theotokopoulos, the production includes the participation of 180 Italian and Greek artists. Performances will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
