Low-cost carrier Ellinair of Greece will begin flights to George from June 8, providing flights on the Georgia-Greece route once per week. Ellinair, of the Mouzenidis Group, is based at Macedonia International Airport. The group addressed Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency on April 7, 2015 and asked permission to launch direct flights between Georgia and Greece.
Other airlines planning flights to Georgia include Irish low-cost airline Ryainair, British low-cost airline EasyJet and Germany’s second largest airline, Air Berlin. It is believed these three airlines will soon fly to Georgia however results of the negotiations have not been announced.
