The circular shape, red and blue, the sun which symbolizes hope, are all common elements identified by the Turkish press on the logo of the presidency candidate PM Erdogan and the logo used by U.S. President Barack Obama during his election campaign.

The Turkish PM officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the country yesterday. By announcing his candidacy, Erdogan presented the logo of his campaign which seems to be more than similar to the Obama logo in the U.S. elections of 2008 and 2012.

Apart from the sun, on the logo of the Turkish PM, according to statements by his party, AKAP, there is a tunnel and a zig-zagging road, which will ultimately lead to light at the end of the tunnel. This road symbolizes “Erdogan’s life journey”.

The election campaign of Erdogan has two slogans: “National Testament- National Power” and “Man of the nation, Recep Tayyip Erdogan”.

AKP officials added that the colors and design of the logo are seeking to highlight values such as honesty, hope, strength, union, prestige and dynamic targets.
