Rural Development Minister Giorgos Karasmanis inaugurated on Sunday an exhibition on the history of oriental tobacco in Greece.
The exhibition, which will be held at the Congress Centre of Piraeus Bank in Thessaloniki is scheduled to run until November 2.
Though a great variety of exhibits, including antiques, documents and photographs, the visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history of tobacco and also about an important period of the modern history of Greece.
Thessaloniki’s mayor Yiannis Boutaris attended the inauguration of the exhibition “Tobacco/101 notes on oriental tobacco”. In his statements, Mr. Boutaris stressed the need for the creation of a a tobacco museum in the city of Thessaloniki.
The exhibition will be open at weekdays from 8 am to 9 pm, on Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm and on Sundays from 6 pm to 9 pm.
