Ferry services suspended due to strong winds (photos)

The latest wave of adverse weather in Greece is causing problems across the country, as many ferry services have been suspended due to strong northern winds with velocity that reaches 9 to 10 on the Beaufort scale.

Crete is among the areas most affected by the adverse weather, as the photos taken today at Rethimno port prove.

Ferries remain docked at the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio and routes from Piraeus to Salamina island are conducted only with closed-type ferries.

The ferry services that haven’t been affected yet by the strong winds include the ones from the town of Volos to the islands of Sporades and from Kyllini to Cephalonia and Zakynthos. Moreover, the Corfu-Igoumenitsa and the Alexandroupolis-Samothrace sea links are carried out normally.

Travelers are encouraged to contact the port authorities for latest updates.
