Finnish FinMin: ‘We will not allow Greece to blackmail us’

In an interview to Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

Finnish FinMin Antti Rinne clarified his country’s position in a “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” interview: “We will not allow Greece to blackmail us”.

He underlined that decisions are clear and that Greece will receive additional funds when reforms are not only decided upon but also applied. He stated that the current deadline for Greece is the end of the month

“The release of loans requires a unanimous decision by the Eurogroup and Finland will only approve of it if terms have been met. This is the case regardless of the party which the Finnish FinMin belongs to”, he said, knowing well that national elections in Finland are slated for April 19.

The Finnish FinMin also expressed his satisfaction that Finland has secured guarantees for the loan agreement to Greece, obviously mentioning the 2011 deposit of 930 million euros in a special bank account.
