Fire breaks out at Varnavas

Fire services rushed to the scene to battle the blaze – High risk of fire on Tuesday

A fire broke out on Monday noon at the area of Varnavas, East Attica, between the cemetery and the new landfill area was put under control.

Fire services rushed to the scene and 24 firefighters, 10 vehicles, 3 aircrafts and 1 helicopter battled the blaze.

Based on the Fire Risk Forecasting Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, there is a high risk of fire on Tuesday given the high temperatures and the strong winds expected from tomorrow, with the following areas being at high risk class:

Central Greece (Viotia, Fthiotida, Evia and Skyros)
Attica
Peloponnese (Argolida, Korinthia)
South Aegean (Cyclades)
North Aegean (Lemnos, Samos, Ikaria)
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (Samothraki)
