Fire in Kryoneri, close to a residential area – Aerial units deployed

The fire has broken out in a ravine - Traffic is being diverted in the area - Firefighting forces are on site

An alarm was raised this morning in Kryoneri after a fire broke out in a forested area within a ravine in the Drosopigi region. On the scene are 65 firefighters with 16 vehicles and three ground teams. From the air, two airplanes and three helicopters are providing support.

The fire has broken out near a residential area, but it is not currently threatening any homes, according to the Fire Department.

Due to the fire, the following traffic diversions are in place:

1) Kryoneriou Street and Kolokotroni no vehicles move towards Kolokotroni.
2) From Drosopigi settlement to Krioneri.
3) Kryoneriou and Lefkis Street vehicles do not move towards Lefkis Street.
4) Kolokotroni and Lefkis in IM Kosmosotiros.
