FM Venizelos: Greece will contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza

Venizelos congratulated Egyptian diplomacy on its tireless efforts to achieve this ceasefire

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Wednesday welcomed the reaching of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and expressed the Government’s readiness to contribute to treat wounded, particularly children.

“Greece welcomes the agreement reached on the initiation of a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and expresses the hope that this will be a long-term ceasefire which will create conditions allowing for the speedy reconstruction of Gaza, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the reopening of the peace process,” Deputy PM underlined.

Venizelos congratulated Egyptian diplomacy on its tireless efforts to achieve this ceasefire and added that the Greek government “reiterates its readiness to treat wounded, particularly children, and to contribute in any possible way to the reconstruction of Gaza, following the recent announcement regarding the provision of 500,000 euros, through the UNRWA, as humanitarian aid to cover food needs and repairs to the water supply network.”
