The Greek foreign ministry on Friday issued an announcement on the achievement of an agreement in Lausanne over Iran’s nuclear program.

We welcome the agreement reached yesterday in Lausanne, Switzerland, between the P5+1 and Iran on the basic parameters of a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear program.

We believe that this framework agreement constitutes an important step towards a comprehensive, definitive solution that will strengthen international security and redouble the global efforts towards nuclear disarmament.

What is of great importance now is that emphasis be put on the implementation of the agreement, with the long-term perspective of the lifting of the sanctions on Iran.

We express our congratulations to the Foreign Ministers of the United States of America, France, Great Britain, Russia, China, Germany and Iran, as well as to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, on their tireless efforts aimed at achieving this agreement.
