George Papandreou’s new party to be called “Movement for Change”

The goal of Mr. Papandreou’s team is to present the new party as a political force to be reckoned with

Former Prime Minister and PASOK leader George Papandreou has chosen today, the second day of the new year to launch his new party, which will reportedly be called “Movement for Change.”

According to information, the party’s name and symbols will be submitted to the First Instance Court today while tomorrow, in an official launch event, the party will present its founding declaration that will describe its positions.

The member list of the new party will include mainly fresh names in politics and fewer “veterans” in order to convey the message of a fresh start, sources say. The same sources report that the list of the new party’s candidates for the upcoming elections is 80% complete, with only a few finishing touches missing.

As it seems, the goal of Mr. Papandreou’s team is to present the new party as a political force to be reckoned with in the national elections battle to take place in January.

The former PM aspires to gather enough votes to be elected third in January’s elections, ahead of PASOK, To Potami and far right Golden Dawn in order to have the power to influence political developments.
