Germany’s Foreign ministry did not deny or confirm a press report published by Die Welt last weekend in which the paper cited a report of the German embassy in Athens describing Greece as a “rudderless ship”.

“When the newspaper speaks of such alleged reports which are classified and confidential, it is neither refuted nor confirmed here,” German foreign ministry spokesman Martin Schaefer said, responding to a relevant question.
