German-Hellenic Chamber announces training program for young unemployed Greeks

The program will last two to three years and following an examination students will acquire two degrees

The German-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and the newly-set up Hellenic Company for Maintenance of Railway Equipment (EESSTY) are offering a technical training program to 140 unemployed youths from 18 to 20 years old to Germany for hands-on training.

The program involves several Greek and German agencies and uses technical know-how from the German railways (Deutsche Bahn). It will involve hands-on training in German rail facilities and last two to three years. Following an examination, students will acquire two degrees, recognized by the Greek Ministries of Education and Labor and by the German state through the Chamber.

The Chamber aims also to promote the bilateral vocational education so as public and private organizations, the business community, political leadership, parents and children would understand that the vocational training should be developed and improved leading to a more competitive Greek economy.

Funding is provided by Germany Education and Research ministry’s VETnet program, which supports similar actions in 11 bilateral German Chambers, coordinated by Germany’s central chamber association.
