Google’s new browser app helps people learn English!

A combination between a game and a teaching tool

A new Chrome browser extension promises to help everyone improve their pronunciation in English. It is basically a word game, which is based on voice recognition technology.

“Spell Up” asks users to pronounce the words correctly, to solve tongue twisters and discover mysterious words. At the same time, users can earn bonuses and collect virtual coins to level up much faster.

The new “Chrome experiment” – as Google describes the app- helps people improve their English using their voice through the modern, user-friendly browser. It’s like a form of virtual spelling.

Google states that it worked closely with teachers and game designers to make “Spell Up” a fun way of teaching.

The aim of the game is to correctly write the words you hear and to make the tallest tower of words, letter by letter and word by word. The higher the tower, the more difficult the lexical (word) challenges.
