Gov’t celebrates measures of 5.4 billion euros

The Greek side believes that the agreement of 5.4 billion euros measures is a victory

An informal information note issued by the Greek government on Thursday night describes the end of negotiations which led to a Greek victory, taking for granted the successful conclusion of the talks with Greece’s lenders until Easter, despite any concerns and estimates for further delays.

The government almost celebrates the impending agreement, which provides new measures of 5.4 billion euros, since it lists a number of factors, which compared with the commitments accepted by the previous governments, lead to the conclusion that in total the agreement will include fewer measures.

The government argues, among others, that the measure package of 5.4 billion euros is under the agreement signed last summer and that those who used to say that the measures would reach 6.5 billion euros and lower and middle groups will be called to pay the price are proven wrong.

However, the government avoids to explain how the indirect taxes of 1.8 billion euros for the next three years will not affect all social groups, since these are applied for all citizens.
