Gov’t spokesman: Our goal is to reach deal by Mon.

Sakellaridis noted that, for the next two days, discussions will follow on a technical level with the aim of reaching an agreement

Gov’t spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis stated on Friday from Brussels, where he has travelled to attend the EU Summit as a member of the Greek delegation, that the Greek Government’s aim is to reach a deal with the country’s European partners by Monday.

Sakellaridis underlined that the Greek government is negotiating hard in order to honor the people’s mandate.

With regard to the Eurogroup meeting held last Wednesday, the Gov’t spokesman said that Greece did not sign the draft of the joint announcement, because it mentioned the continuation of the previous program.

According to Sakellaridis, the Greek government was under extreme pressure during the Eurogroup meeting, as certain rumors were circulating about a rupture between the country and its European partners.

Sakellaridis also noted that, for the next two days, discussions will follow on a technical level with the aim of reaching an agreement by the next Eurogroup meeting on Monday, February 16.
