Govt spox lashes out at hardline faction within ruling party

D-word used! (drachma)

A looming “civil war” between the radical leftist SYRIZA government and its even more radical leftist “Left Platform” continued on Wednesday, with new government spokeswoman disparaging the latest comments by former minister and current “top dissenter” Panagiotos Lafazanis.

The hardline Lafazanis was recently quoted as saying that he will not grant a confidence vote in favor of the  SYRIZA-AN.EL coalition government.

“The Left Platform and Panagiotis Lafazanis announced today that they have decided to vote against the SYRIZA government,” Olga Gerovasili said.

She charged that the far-left faction in SYRIZA has for three years exercised an “internal opposition” because policies advocated by the party did not consider the prospect of a return to the … drachma.

She also said that even with partners’ acquiescence, the only result would be a memorandum and a feeble drachma as the national currency.

The spokeswoman mentioned that during parliamentary group sessions, Lafazanis and other Left Platform cadres supported spoke in favor of Grexit, something also apparently backed by   German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble.
