Greece confers the Gold Cross of the Order of Honor to Dutch professor

For his contribution in promoting early modern Greek literature in Greece and the Netherlands.

The Greek Government conferred the Gold Cross of the Order of Honor to Dutch professor Arnold van Gemert for his contribution to Modern Greek Literature.

The Emeritus Professor of Modern Greek Studies of the University of Amsterdam, Arnold van Gemert, was honored in a special ceremony that took place at the Greek ambassador’s residence in The Hague on December 3.

The President of the Hellenic Republic awarded the highest distinction of the Greek state to Mr. van Gemert for his contribution in promoting early modern Greek literature in Greece and the Netherlands.

Τhe medal was presented on behalf of Mr. Papoulias by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to the Netherlands, H.E. Mrs Teresa – Paraskevi Angelatou.
