Greece floods – Part of Volos Old People’s Home evacuated

Shortly after 8 pm, Greek authorities ordered the evacuation of the Volos Old People’s Home as the stream of Agia Paraskevi swept away the old wing and caused serious damage, however, none of the 50 people housed there were in danger.

The extreme weather system Daniel is sweeping everything in its path. Volos, Pelion, Skiathos, and Larissa are at the mercy of the dangerous weather phenomena from early Tuesday morning (5/9).

According to gegonota.news, the main building, which is also located near the stream, will be evacuated and only the elderly people living in the third wing will remain.

The nursing home is in agitation and the administration of the institution is trying to provide shelter for the elderly in cooperation with the Thessaly Region.

A new message was sent shortly after 8 pm from “112” to residents of Magnesia thus extending the curfew throughout the prefecture due to the onslaught of bad weather Daniel.

As the message states, the curfew is still in force in the prefecture of Magnesia due to the development of dangerous weather phenomena.
