Greece floods – Watch as person rescues children in small dinghy in flooded road – 4 dead from the floods (videos)

Six people are missing

As Greece is reeling amid the cataclysmic bad weather Daniel, with authorities scrambling to contain the effects of torrents of rain and rescue people in the central regions of Karditsa, Trikala, Volos, and Larissa, more and more videos are emerging of citizens trying to escape the menacing floods.

So far, there have reportedly been 4 dead from from the floods with 6 more missing in a village in Karditsa. The situation in Karditsa and even more so in the area of Palamas could only be described as apocalyptic. There, everything has turned into a vast lake since the rainfall from the bad weather Daniel has hit the whole area of the surrounding plain. Palamas is in the middle of an imaginary triangle between Larissa-Trikala-Karditsa.

Indicative are the images recorded earlier in the village of Metamorfosi inside Palamas with a person trying to carry their children to safety using an inflatable boat. The shocking video shows the person up to their neck in muddy water and the children on an inflatable boat.

In another video, other residents are also trying to move by boat to a spot that is not covered by water.

The situation with the water having risen one metre has created huge difficulties for firefighters’ efforts to reach those trapped as it is impossible to use vehicles. Due to the low cloud cover in the area, competent authorities have not given the green light for helicopters to fly in the area.

The only means rescue teams are operating is by fire brigade boats used by six teams of the EMAK while five army boats are being transported to the area.

The waters, according to reports, have covered everything in all the villages around Palamas: Metamorphosis, Vlohos, Petrino, Itea, Kalyvakia, and Psathochori.
