According to an assessment for this year’s summer holidays of the Austrian newspaper “Esteraich”, Greece this summer was the “number one” tourist destination for Austrians.

“This year Greece was the leading destination for Austrians, the ultimate number one for those who are attracted by the sea”, highlighted the publication.

Among those Austrians who chose Greece for this year’s holiday was the Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurt, as well as the Minister of Culture Joseph Ostermagier who is one of the fanatic fans of Greece and this year chose Rhodes by booking at the last minute.
The publication of “Esteraich” noted that this summer, Austrians have been the “champions” in Europe in terms of tourism, as they are on vacation more than any other citizens of all other countries.

According to data from the Europ Assistance Group, in the last weeks 68% of Austrians found on vacation, compare to the 57% in the same period last year, and of these, almost two out of three chose the a destination with a beach rather than mountain.

According to a research of the Austrian bank Erste Bank, on average this year an Austrian spend on holiday 1100 euro, which is 200 euro more than last year.
