Greek cultural site attendance increased in July

The number of tourists and locals who visited museums and archaeological sites in July 2014 increased from the previous year

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced the results of the Survey on Museums and Archaeological sites that show that there was a 29.8% increase to Greek museums during July 2014 whereas there was a 33.4% increase in receipts in comparison to the July 2013. The number of visitors at archaeological sites in July 2014 recorded an increase of 20.2% and the respecitive receipts recorded an increase of 13.8% in comparison to July 2013. During the seven-months of 2014, there was a 22,1% increase in the number of visitors of museums and a 28.4% increase in the respective receipts, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2013. The number of visitors at archaeological sites, during the seven-months of 2014 recorded an increase of 22.9% and the corresponding receipts rose by 16,1%, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2013.
