Greek diners brawl with German tourists at Monastiraki restaurant

Greek hospitality tossed out the window

A Monastiraki restaurant situated at the tourist district of Athens was turned into a boxing ring late on Thursday night as two groups of friends dining put down their knives and forks and turned to bashing each other. Witnesses say that one of the tables was made up of German tourists whereas the other table had Greek diners who for a reason that remains unknown took offence to each other.

After verbal altercations and insults, the groups stood up and began to fistfight with each other to the surprise of the other diners.

The incident took place at 11 p.m. and resulted in injury as four people were rushed to Erythros hospital.
