Economy Minister George Stathakis confirmed on Thursday that he is the Greek minister who failed to report a million euros of income to Greek Parliament’s Audit COmmittee for the Declaration of Assets. No sooner did he make the statement that he had filed a report in 2012 that was “premature and possibly incomplete” however had rectified his mistake after three years with an additional report in March 2015, that Twitter caught on fire with #Stathakis trending as the hot topic of the day!
Twitter users got to work, turning Stathakis’ “forgetfulness” into humor:
– Mr. Stathakis is there a chance that you have forgotten something on your assets statement?
– Not one in a million.
And waht am I for you to forget me? A million euros?
Our job is to add up the millions in measures and taxes for you, sirs. Not for us.
Now that it’s getting chilly, I wore a jacket that I hadn’t worn since last year. It had a 10-euro note in its pocket. These things happen.
I don’t get it, have you never forgotten a euro somewhere?
#Stathakis has a lot on his head and along with one he forgot another six zeroes.
#Stathakis forgot 1 mln euros and you are looking through your jeans should you find a fiver… keep the rage high!
When #Stathakis forgot his millions, we were counting every euro to pay ENFIA!!
Forgetfulness! ALERT! #Stathakis
– But Mr. #Stathakis, how could you forget a million?
– So what. Do you know how much you are worth until the last euro? I don’t get you.
No problem! The ‘forgotten’ million euros were just a euro forgotten a million times.
Mum, I’m off to do my tax declaration.
– Don’t forget the million!
#Stathakis + Flambouraris = Alzheimer’s forever!!
It’s logical for people to forget to declare their millions. Just like you paupers who have nothing to eat?
I have a million Stathakis, but it’s from the village you don’t know.
