Greek Minister Kontonis informs FIFA, UEFA through letter

The Greek Deputy Minister for Sports, Stavros Kontonis has sent a letter to the international governing bodies of FIFA and UEFA informing them that the Greek professional football league ‘Super League’ will not start in the upcoming season, reports site ‘Live Sport’. In his letter, Kontonis claims he reached the decision due to concerns over security, adding that the league would not start until the satiation changed. The Minister does not make any reference to what changes are necessary in the Greek Football Federation, but points out that lives of people involved in Greek football are in jeopardy, citing testimonies by football officials of the belligerent atmosphere permeating the sport.
