Greek Gov. spokesperson Gerovasili admits Greece ‘stuck’ with refugees

She confessed many EU countries will not comply with relocation plan

During Tuesday’s press briefing Greek government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili essentially admitted that Greece would be hosting a large number of refugees and illegal immigrants for a longer period than had initially been expected. Gerovasili told reporters that the Greek government was bracing itself for this prospect because she was not optimistic that all EU member states would comply with the provisions stipulated in the EU-Turkey agreement for the relocation of refugees and immigrants to other EU countries. The spokesperson made it clear that Greece would not pass any legislation deeming Turkey a ‘safe country’, a scenario, as she said fuelled by sources in Brussels. Gerovasili downplayed the incident of the Turkish official who had entered Greece with a stamp by the northern Cypriot pseudo-state.
