Greek homosexual couples offered Civil Union partnerships

Homosexual couples will have the same legal rights as heterosexuals in their relationships

Greece’s Ministry of Justice announced on Wednesday that it plans to introduce legislation that gives Civil Union rights to same sex couples. The bill is part of broader legislation on insurance, tax and other issues concerning Greek citizens and aims to afford homosexual couples fundamental legal rights. Though people in same-sex relationships will be able to enjoy all liberties given to heterosexual couples without discrimination, they will not be given the right to adopt children.
