Greek PM to meet with N. Romanos’ parents

The parents of hunger striker N. Romanos asked to meet with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is meeting with the parents of hunger-striking inmate Nikos Romanos at his offices at 11 a.m. on Monday. The meeting is taking place at the request of the young hunger striker’s parents following the request of their lawyer on Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Romanos is in prison serving a conviction for armed robbery and also facing trial on terrorism-related charges. He started his hunger strike 27 days ago following a refusal to have his educational furlough accepted so that he could attend classes at Technological Educational Institute, where he had obtained a place after sitting nationwide university entrance exams earlier this year.
