Greek poker player puts Greece on the map

G. Sotiropoulos runs away with cash and glory

Greek George Sotiropoulos ran away as the winner of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe, taking home the golden bracelet. He is the third golden bracelet winner from Greece within a week. The trio of wins is impressive for Greece, one of the smaller poker nations that broke records at the WSOP this year.
Up until now, Greece had never produced winners, however Sotiropoulos not only won the title, but also walked away with €112,133.
The poker championship tournament was held in Berlin, Germany, and drew 2,144 players from around the world.
