Greek Pres. Pavlopoulos says ideals of Karaiskakis are pertinent today

Sacrifice for the common good and putting differences aside are paramount

President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos lauded the example set by the hero of Greece’s independence war in 1821, Georgios Karaiskakis, on occasion of the celebrated warrior’s 188th commemoration anniversary. Pavlopoulos underlined that Karaiskakis has passed down the ideas of sacrifice for the country, as collaborating with one another in order to achieve a common goal. He added that in these crucial days for Greece and its people, it was ideals and examples like these that should illuminate the path forward.
