Guardian points to EZ chorus of resentment of Greek FinMin

Eastern bloc EZ members resent being in the euro and having to pay for Greece

An article in the Guardian, titled “Varoufakis has achieved one thing – uniting resentment of poorer nations,” describes Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis as a “glamour boy” and points to the problems caused by the way he “waxed triumphalist about how he had outfoxed the eurozone” following Greece’s deal to extend the country’s bailout to the end of next month.

The extension of the bailout from February 20 through to the end of June is described by the Guardian as Greece’s “only breakthrough achieved by the brinkmanship of Alexis Tsipras’ government in talks with eurozone creditors.” Now, the clock is ticking and the Guardian warns that the odds are shortening for a Greek default.

When Varoufakis had boasted to his success in splitting the Eurozone, the Guardian states that he was 180 degrees wrong. Instead, he has managed to unite the other 18 Eurozone members against Greece more firmly than ever. “As an object lesson in how to make enemies and lose friends, it was quite a feat,” reports the Guardian.
