Helping hand from Brussels: Europe will continue helping Greece

Highlights of the EU Commissioner of Economic Affairs speech

During his speech introduction, the EU Commissioner of Economic Affairs heralded that Greece will receive help “in any way that is needed”.

“EU will ensure that Greece will be able to raise funds at sustainable rates” said the representative of the Commission and also noted that- “EU wants to smooth the path for Greece to regain full access to the markets”.

Further, the representative of the EU, Simon O’Connor used characteristically the exact words “European Commission sees strong evidence that Greece has turned the corner”.

Among others, Mr. O’ Connor stated that: “We are committed to cooperate and support Greece in any kind of deal that is agreed”.

Finally, while asked if he believes that Greece made a mistake by suggesting an early exit of the International Monetary Fund program, Commissioner Simon O’Connor refused to make any comments and merely said that: “The issue will be discussed later in Autumn”.
