Higher entrance to archeology sites, but discounts for vulnerable groups

The government is examining ways to exploit archeology sites without making culture just for the rich!

Culture and Sports Minister Aristidis Baltas addressed Greek Parliament during the three-day debate on the government’s policy statement. He said his ministry would seek to increase revenues from archaeological sites and cultural events, stressing that all would be done to ensure that people weren’t denied access to culture due to the economic crisis.

There were plans to introduce the electronic ticket to boost revenue while steps had already been taken to raise the price of entrance tickets to site. Plans were underway to promote Greek archeology, including underwater archeology and diving tourism.

Low inome earners would be offered a solidarity card, whereas free entrance to museums and archeological sites are being considered for special groups.
