Hiplet: A new dance style becomes viral hit

The new style was invented by instructor Homer Hans Bryant

A footage showing ballerinas dancing a new style of dance that combines ballet and hip hop has drawn the attention of many Internet users.

The new style is called “hiplet” and was invented by instructor Homer Hans Bryant, founder and artistic director of the Chicago Multicultural Dance Center.

The video was initially posted on the Instagram account of dance of Homer Hans Bryant.

But a few weeks ago it was reposted on the Só Bailarinos Facebook page, where it has been viewed over 5 million times.

The CMDC school administrator, Cheryl Taylor, told BuzzFeed News she was surprised by the amount of attention the video has received.

Taylor said the dancers were excited that so many people were happy to watch their choreography. “The youngest dancer in the video is 12 and the oldest is 16,” she added.
