The Euro Working Group is meeting on April 8 (Greek Orthodox Holy Wednesday) and the morning of April 9 reports Reuters.
German officials are keeping tight-lipped as to the agenda of the meeting, however it is expected that the EWG will examine the Greek government’s list of reforms.
A statement by the Finance Ministry denied that Athens had told its creditors that it would run out of money by April 9 in a bid for more loans before reforms are agreed to and implemented.
The reports may have been based on a statement made by Interior Minister Nikos Voutsis who said on Wednesday that if the country had to choose between paying back 450 mln euros to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and paying salaries and pensions on April 9, then he would choose the latter.
The Greek government stated that the IMF payment would not be missed.
