Photos of a young female bullfighter showing off her trophies, in this case the severed ears of a bull, have caused a stir on the Internet.

30 year-old Lea Vicens, who recently took part in a bullfighting festival in France, fell from her horse in the arena during the show. Her life was endangered by her enraged victim.

The French bullfighter managed to escape the bull’s horns and after a few minutes, killed the proud, wounded animal, cutting off his ears as a trophy.

This macabre act is a usual sight in this Southern France bullfighting festival, famed for its brutality. Only the bullfighters who provide onlookers with a spectacle are allowed to take the bull’s ears home.
