The Belgian town of Ghent is on alert since four armed men broke into an apartment on Monday morning.

A police spokesman stated that the four men are holding a hostage. The surrounding area has been blocked off, while residents have been ordered to stay inside for their own safety. Two hours after the incident, the motives of the gunmen are unknown, while, according to DA sources, there is no evidence which points to an act of terrorism.
