The 110th anniversary of the opening of the “Poseidonion Grand Hotel” in Spetses, which this year is included in the Gold List 2024 of “Condé Nast Traveler” with the best hotels and resorts in the world.
Going back to the summer of 1914, the story of the “Poseidonion Grand Hotel” unfolds with its opening on the cosmopolitan island of Spetses: An architectural landmark hotel, designed by Panagiotis Zizilas, influenced by the architectural style of the hotels of the Côte d’Azur, such as the “Carlton” and the “Negresco” on the French Riviera, a vision of the eupatric benefactor Sotiris Anargyros, who with his dedication contributed significantly to the development of the island.
Soon, the hotel became a beacon of Greek hospitality and became a magnet for the cosmopolitan public of the time, which consisted of wealthy Athenians, famous foreigners, prime ministers and kings.
Among them was Eleftherios Venizelos, who even attended the opening of the hotel.

“As we celebrate an important anniversary, we feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to spearhead the next chapter of the Poseidonion’s legacy, adding our own touch to its rich history”, says Antonis Vordonis, Managing Director of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel, with the hotel this season enhancing the gastronomic experience and offering authentic experiences (the summer “Ciné Titania”, the Bertram 26 Sport, the hotel’s private speedboat giving the choice of high quality sea excursions, the traditional Pine Estate residence for a unique hospitality proposal with panoramic views and private beach area access, etc.).
