Idomeni: Refugees and Europe’s ‘culture’ are sinking in mud (pics)

Images of people wandering around the muddy camp and lining up for a piece of bread and some clean water are heartbreaking

Children wandering around in a muddy camp. Thousands of people trapped in Idomeni just a breath away from FYROM which has sealed its border for days. The refugees, who have traveled thousands of kilometers seeking a better future in European countries, see their hopes fading day by day.

But, the road back to home is also blocked. Those who might decide to return to Athens thinking of going back home devastated by the long journey and the fact they cannot reach their destination, will realize that they cannot! Turkey has also closed its border and does not accept anyone.

Most refugees and immigrants, though, remain in cold and muddy Idomeni hoping that they will manage to cross the borders someday and continue their journey to northern Europe.

Images of people wandering around the muddy camp and lining up for a piece of bread and some clean water, sick children in dirty and wet clothes and tents are heartbreaking.

Idomeni 2016. Refugees are sinking in mud along with the European culture. And if Europeans promise they will help to address the humanitarian crisis, no one can guarantee that this aid will ever reach those who are in great need.
