IMF asks for more guarantees concerning debt relief

Despite the progress made, the European proposal is still far from what the head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, has proposed

The International Monetary Fund asks for more guarantees regarding the debt relief and seems that it is not satisfied with the proposals submitted  by Europeans.

According to an article published by German news agency MNI, the IMF insists that the Europeans should commit now on long-term debt relief and that there should not be any “gaps” and possible review of the issue after 2018.

A top executive told MNI that if Greek debt is still an issue after 2019, then the Fund will not participate in the Greek program. Moreover, the article mentions that despite the progress made, the European proposal is still far from what the head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, has proposed.
