Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras briefed IMF chief Christine Lagarde on Wednesday, according to a spokesman by the international lending organization, stressing that Greece is expected to pay back its loan installments on time.

Spokesman William Murray on Thursday referred to a “constructive conversation” between Lagarde and Tsipras, adding that they “focused on next steps in taking forward the policy discussions related to the IMF’s continued support of Greece’s reform program.”.
Additionally, Murray flatly denied a previous media report, circulated by Bloomberg, claiming that IMF officials had complained that Greece as the most unhelpful country the organization had ever dealt with in its 70-year history.
“There is no basis in fact for that contention. No such remark was made,” Murray told reporters at his weekly briefing.

“I wish they had checked with us before that story was published,” he quipped.
