According o sources the oil company Exxonmobil Corp sent away their staff from the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan as the jihadists of the Islamic State continue their march towards the capital Arbil.

A spokesman for Exxon in Houston U.S. merely stated that the company does not comment on security matters.

The Chevron Corp announced that is sending away its personnel from Iraqi Kurdistan.

The company noted that already has sent away some foreign staff from Kurdistan after an assessment of the security situation. Currently it is unclear whether the same applies for all its staff from the region.
