IS retreating from Kobane

American officials said that hundreds of jihadists have been killed in the area of Kobane

IS has lost control of more than 20% of the town on the border with Turkey in recent days, as Kurdish official Idris Nasan told BBC.

Mr. Nassan said the Kurdish military had made progress against IS in Kobane since the US-led air strikes were stepped up.

Jihadists abandon various areas of Syria especially following yesterday’s attack of US.

“Maybe in the few past days [Islamic State] was controlling about 40% of the city of Kobane, but now… less than 20% of the city is under control of [IS],” he said. “[On Wednesday], YPG started cleaning [up]operations in the east and south-east of Kobane.” Nasan said.

At the same time, American officials said that hundreds of jihadists have been killed in the area of Kobane.

US aircraft carried out 18 strikes on Islamic State positions near the besieged Syrian border town of Kobane on Tuesday and Wednesday, the US military’s Central Command reported.
