Jacques Delors: The architect of the European Union has died

The former president of the European Commission passed away at the age of 98

Jacques Delors passed away earlier Wednesday at the age of 98.

The French politician worked at the Bank of France, was a professor at the University of Paris and a member of the European Parliament.

From 1969 to 1972 he was an Advisor to the Gaulish French Prime Minister Saban-Delmas.

He then joined the Socialist Party.

In 1981 he became Minister of Finance under François Mitterrand.

He was one of the pioneers of the European integration project while he was a notable economist with modernist tendencies.

He worked constantly and had acquired great prestige, influence and power.

From 1985 to 1995 he was president of the European Commission.
