Joan Rivers dies at the age of 81

Joan Rivers was best known for criticising celebrities and celebrity culture

Rivers died from heart attack after undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords and was then put in a medically-induced comma. However, she did not make it and died yesterday.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers,” Melissa Rivers said in a statement. “My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”

Joan Rivers was best known for criticising celebrities and celebrity culture. She would always say what she thought and many times she was abrasive.

She did not afraid to be mean in her comedy and talk about those she believed were hypocrites. Therefore, she made many enemies during her career, but had also good friends, such as Johnny Carson who was also her mentor.
