UPD: John Kerry in Greece to discuss a packet of 6 issues

United States Secretary of State John Kerry is on a one-day visit to Greece

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with United States Secretary of State John Kerry in Athens on Friday as part of the visiting official’s one-day visit to Greece at 11.40 a.m. local time. The two men met at the government’s headquarters, Maximos Mansion, before Kerry headed to another meeting with Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias at the ministry at 12.30 p.m. The two ministers will make joint statements to the media at 1.35 p.m.

Meeting with Greece’s PM, Kerry said that the US will do all it can to help Greece return to the path of recovery and recoup hope. Meeting for a few minutes with reporters he said that he apreciates the efforts that Greece has made in the financial sector. He said that Greece and the United States are working closely.

There are six main issues to be discussed during Kerry’s visit. These are:

– the long-standing Cyprus dispute

– Greek-Turkish relations

– the name issue with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)

– the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP)

– Debt reduction

– Security
