Just an ordinary family and their bodyguards

Much ado has been made of former conservative prime minister Kostas Karamanlis’ role in the run-up to the ND leadership race on Sunday, December 20. Rather than focus on the politics and controversy, he chose to take advantage of the sunny winter’s day with his wife Natasha and their twins Aliki and Aleko along with his friend, Vakis Frantzis, head of the ND administrative committee in Thessaloniki.

The family enjoyed a stroll, protected by a team of security guards. During their casual walk people rushed to shake his hands wishing him luck and prosperity.

On Sunday, Karamanlis and thousands of other ND supporters will cast their ballot for the party’s leadership. It is unknown who he will vote for.

Throughout the election run he has remained silent amid comments concerning his support of the bid of Vangelis Meimarakis though he has not outrightly backed any of the candidates.
