Karlaftis after triumph in the NFL: Proud to be Greek, I thought I would become the new Diamantidis

The 22-year-old spoke & revealed that he would like to return to his homeland at some point

George Karlaftis continues to live the American Dream as in his second year as a professional in the NFL, he won his second championship with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 22-year-old athlete celebrated for the second consecutive year at the biggest sports event in the USA, after his team’s victory with a score of 25-22 in a thrilling final against the 49ers, which was decided in overtime.

George Karlaftis made an exceptional appearance in the Super Bowl final, starting off just minutes into the game with a crucial fumble, as the 49ers had begun the match fiercely.

After the game, he celebrated with his family and with the Greek flag draped over his shoulders. George Karlaftis spoke to ERT about his great success and emphasized that his goal is to return to Greece at some point.

“I always imagined myself as a professional athlete. Growing up, I thought I would be the next Diamantidis,” said the champion who has never hidden his love for Panathinaikos.

Speaking about celebrating with the Greek flag, he said, “I wanted to show that I am the only Greek who has done something like this. To show more my pride that I am from Greece and for my homeland.”

Regarding other areas he is considering investing in, he mentioned, “I’m not sure. I’m still 22 years old. I really like philanthropy. So, I’m involved with that. With various foundations and different purposes here in Kansas City and I want to expand even more in Greece. I want to do camps and various activities for youth, for little kids. My biggest passion outside of football and my family and religion, I would say, has been philanthropy.”

In his plans is eventually returning to Greece, where he wants to raise his family with his future spouse.
