Greek pole vault champion Katerina Stafanidi took first place in the Monaco Diamond League competition, clearing 4.81m. The win extends her overall lead in the Diamond League ranking to 16 points from her second placed rival, Cuban Yarisley Silva. Stefanidi had 3 unsuccessful attempts at breaking the national record of 4.93m. Meanwhile, the other Greek pole vault competitor, Nikol Kyriakopoulou was unable to take part in the competition due to an injury, and is expected to undergo a series of medical tests to gauge the severity of her condition.
