Kouvelis proposes an alternative plan to exit the crisis

The plan includes tax reform, a special program to reduce unemployment, new employement relations

Democratic Left sent two letters, one to parties and personalities of the wider centre-left wing and one to SYRIZA, in order to set up a “progressive program” to tackle the crisis.

Specifically, the first letter was addressed to the President of PASOK, Evangelos Venizelos, the president of Potami, Stavros Theodorakis, the president of the Agreement on a New Greece, Andreas Loverdos, the president of the Social Agreement, Luka Katseli, “Ecologists Greens”,” “Europe – Ecology”, “Greens (Solidarity-Creation-Ecology)” and to independent MPs. The second letter was addressed to the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras.

According to information, SYRIZA and PASOK welcomed positively this initiation, while Potami reacted by saying that “our priority is not to save the old parties”.

Mr. Kouvelis set forth the following programmatic points:
– The country’s European course is not negotiable and Greece remains in the eurozone
– Tax reforms
– Strengthening SMEs and boosting liquidity with low interest loans
– Special program to reduce unemployment
– Establishing a state of social services which will reduce inequalities
– New status of employment relations
– Balance between state and markets
– Creating a new relationship between public and private sector
– Changes in the production model and productive reconstruction
– Complete redesign of the state based on serving citizens and businesses’
– Rationalization of the political system, fighting corruption, partisan privileges and introducing transparency in management resources
